Dose Suggestion: Section A |
|
Dose remark: Section B |
|
In Section A the following can be displayed:
12 IU This format is used when one or more similar situations have been found in your database (same blood glucose concentration 2-4 hours before the current time-slot + similar carbohydrate intake as in the current time-slot + a blood glucose concentration between 4 and 9 mmol/l in the next time slot + a dose available in the database). If more than 1 similar situations were found, the median insulin dose value will be displayed. This dose has a high likelyhood of resulting in good blood glucose concentrations in the coming 2-4 hours.
(12 IU) The current blood glucose and food data were not used when calculating a dose suggestion! This will occur when no or too few similar situations (in terms of blood glucose values, and carbohydrate intake) were found in your database. Use this bracketed dose advice as a rule of thumb. It will be reasonably adequate if your current carbohydrate intake is not abnormal for you, and your blood glucose concentration is within the ‘acceptable’ range at the current time-slot (approximately between 4 and 9 mmol/l, i.e. between 70 and 160 mg/dl).
Section B always shows an explanation or a warning that is related to the insulin dose suggestion.
Read it carefully and act accordingly! |
|
Use the V-button to accept the Dose Suggestion and save it to your database. |
|
Use the X-button to neglect the Dose Suggestion. |
|
Use the pencil-button to edit the Dose Suggestion in the ‘Edit Dose Suggestion’ screen. |

The grey numbers at the top of the boxes represent what is already in the database for this time-slot (i.e. entered earlier). Your new entry will be added to the number that is displayed here.

IDA-ControlWizard Dose Suggestion |
|
The Insulin Dose Suggestion screen displays the result of the procedure that IDA-ControlWizard uses to calculate a best estimate for an Insulin Dose Suggestion.
The reliability of any given Dose Suggestion will depend on several factors: e.g. the quality of data you entered in the database (variability of data, completeness of data per day …. ).
During the first days to months of use, depending on the amount of data you enter, IDA-ControlWizard may not yet be able to give a reliable Dose Suggestions. In this period, the quality of the Dose Suggestion will gradually improve. The more data are available, the better the Dose Suggestion will become. Therefore it is adviced to regularly enter 24 hour profiles for all items. This will build-up your database.
Be aware that during the first week(s), no adequate Dose Suggestion can be given yet. You will frequently see a (0 IU) advice. Decide on a dose yourself and enter it in IDA-ControlWizard, using the pencil button. |
